St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, a vibrant, multi-cultural, multi-generational parish of 3800 families, including a dynamic pre-school and k-8 school, is seeking a full time Communications Director. St. Raphael seeks to help people encounter Jesus and form them to live as passionate missionary disciples in the world. The parish is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, recently designated and ranked “Best City to Live In” by Forbes Magazine and Bloomberg Businessweek.

The Communications Director is responsible for developing a comprehensive communications strategy to cast the parish’s vision and priorities and effectively communicate the ministries, programs, and activities of St. Raphael Catholic Church, both internally and externally. Primary responsibilities include managing parish communications and social media platforms, identifying communications opportunities and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them. The Director collaborates with the pastor, staff and parish ministries to produce content for internal and external communications and presentations. The successful candidate will:

Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the ministry of the Pastor and the parish. Creatively apply communication and information technology including social media, print, video, etc. Have hands on experience and interest in writing and content creation. Possess strong collaborative spirit and capacity to grow as a leader. Oversee the day-to-day activities of communications, including budgeting, planning and staff development. Direct and implement the creation and development of effective media strategies. Oversee the production of the parish bulletin and web site.

The requirements of this position include a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field as well as five years of experience in strategic communications or comparable on-thejob experience; in-depth understanding of rapidly evolving media and communications platforms and excellent public speaking, presentation and writing skills preferably in both English and Spanish.

The position requires interpersonal and relationship building skills, the ability to think strategically and manage priorities, to function in a self-directed but collaborative work environment, and to communicate effectively with parish leadership, staff, and volunteers.
