Dear Parishioners,

The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

During this Christmas season, may your homes be renewed through the love of the Holy Family. The birth of Jesus reminds us that God’s awesome power and glory can reside even in those moments when we feel at our smallest and weakest. The Christ Child possessed the fullness of the Divine Person, yet depended on the goodness of others to survive the harshness of our broken world.

As we contemplate the Nativity scene, let us remember that God is with us – Emmanuel – especially in the ordinary. I continue to be amazed at all the energy, diversity, and goodness present at St. Raphael’s. That was so clearly evident at our multilingual Mass of the Immaculate Conception. The Holy Spirit has bestowed grace upon grace here, even as we recognize our weaknesses and shortcomings. 

I look forward to spending this Christmas with you and seeing all that will be revealed in the coming year. May we gaze with fresh eyes upon the mystery of the Incarnation:

And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth (Jn 1:14).

Queridos feligreses,

¡La gracia y la paz de nuestro Señor Jesucristo esté con todos ustedes!

Durante esta temporada navideña, que sus hogares se renueven a través del amor de la Sagrada Familia. El nacimiento de Jesús nos recuerda que el asombroso poder y la gloria de Dios pueden residir incluso en aquellos momentos en que nos sentimos más pequeños y débiles. El Niño Jesús poseía la plenitud de la Persona Divina, pero dependía de la bondad de los demás para sobrevivir a la dureza de nuestro mundo quebrantado.

Mientras contemplamos el pesebre, recordemos que Dios está con nosotros – Emmanuel –
especialmente en lo ordinario. Estoy impresionado por toda la energía, diversidad y bondad presentes en San Rafael. Eso fue muy evidente en nuestra Misa multilingüe de la Inmaculada Concepción. El Espíritu Santo ha derramado gracia sobre gracia aquí, aun cuando reconocemos nuestras debilidades y limitaciones 

Espero con muchos deseos el pasar esta Navidad con ustedes y ver lo qué nos depara este año que viene. Les invito a ver con ojos nuevos el misterio de la Encarnación:

Y el Verbo se hizo carne y habitó entre nosotros, y vimos su gloria, la gloria del Hijo único del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad (Jn 1,14).
