Our faith is one that wants creation to be cherished and renewed. A whole new way of living opens up as a consequence of a personal and passionate relationship with Jesus. We get the grace to transcend ourselves (Laudato Si’, 208). We get new strength to care for others and for creation (LS, 217). We can live with a new horizon, embracing Jesus’ vision of the Kingdom of God, of a renewed and transformed world and ecosystem where we are all brothers and sisters, responsible to each other./ Nuestra fe desea que la creación sea cuidada y renovada. Una forma de vivir completamente nueva se abre como consecuencia de una relación personal y apasionada con Jesús. Recibimos la gracia de ir más allá de nosotros mismos. Obtenemos nueva fortaleza para cuidar (Laudato Si', 208) a otros y a la creación (LS, 217). My name is Brug Jung, and I have been serving as the Chair for your St Raphael Pastoral Council. This past year has been filled with enthusiasm, hard work, new beginnings and joyous reunions as we worked with our staff and volunteers to fully re-open and re-connect our parish community following the pandemic. The Council’s working year ended this June 30, and now is a good time to report on our progress./Mi nombre es Brug Jung, y he estado sirviendo como Presidenta del Consejo Pastoral de San Rafael. Los últimos doce meses estuvieron llenos de entusiasmo, trabajo arduo, nuevos comienzos, y reuniones animadas mientras trabajamos junto con el personal y voluntarios de nuestra parroquia para reabrirla completamente y volver a conectar nuestra comunidad después de la pandemia. El último año de trabajo del Consejo terminó este 30 de junio y aprovecho la oportunidad para informarles sobre nuestro progreso.

Youth is a time for fundamental decisions and the beginning of fulfilling our dreams. And yet, young people today face enormous challenges: the uncertainty of relationship in a digital era, diminishing opportunities for work, the growth of political violence, discrimination, degradation of the environment. All of this makes it difficult for them to find a road where they can build supportive personal and family relations based on solid spiritual and financial foundations./La juventud es un momento de tomar decisiones fundamentales y el comienzo del proceso de hacer realidad y cumplir nuestros sueños. Y sin embargo, los jóvenes de hoy enfrentan enormes desafíos: la incertidumbre de las relaciones en una era digital, la disminución de las oportunidades de trabajo, el crecimiento de la violencia política, la discriminación y la degradación del medio ambiente. Todo esto hace que les sea difícil encontrar un camino donde puedan construir relaciones de apoyo, personales y familiares, basadas en sólidos fundamentos espirituales y financieros.

Beginning on Saturday, July 15 we will celebrate weekend Masses in Ignatius Hall due to the much-awaited HVAC installation in the church. Daily Masses (including Saturday morning at 8:00 am) will continue to be celebrated in the chapel./A partir del sábado 15 de julio celebraremos las Misas del fin de semana en el Salón Ignacio. Walking with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice. Jesus suffers and is crucified in and with His people, especially the little ones. He takes the hands of the excluded, abused and vulnerable. He says to them “Come, inherit the Kingdom”. We are all God’s children./Caminar junto los pobres, los descartados del mundo, los vulnerados en su dignidad en una misión de reconciliación y justicia. Jesús sufre y lo crucifican en y con Su pueblo, especialmente con los más pequeños. Él toma las manos de los excluidos, los abusados y los vulnerables. Él les dice: "Venid, heredad el Reino". Todos somos hijos de Dios.

Great news! Fr. Steve Planning, SJ, who you may have met in June,  will begin his ministry as a Parochial Vicar at our parish on August 15. /¡Una gran noticia! Our Mothers In Faith ministry would like to thank the volunteers who cleaned and refreshed our Nursery/Room 108. Furniture and toys were disinfected and reorganized, graffiti was removed, cabinets/walls were scrubbed and new donated decor added.
