As a first time Pastoral Council member, Kirk is most looking forward to supporting our new pastor and our parish family through prayerful listening and responsibly providing guidance.
Kirk’s faith journey began in 1976 when he was 9 years old. His parents were active in church and he grew to love church, even feeling “called” into full-time ministry at the age of 13. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education (Pastoral Theology) in 1989, he entered into full-time ministry as a Baptist pastor. After three difficult years, he moved into Christian Education and served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, and a School Administrator during his 25 year tenure.
In 2017, Kirk entered into full communion with the Catholic Church and has been a parishioner at St. Raphael since 2018 where he generously shares his talents and gifts. He served as an Alpha table host after participating in the first Alpha series. He was one of our first welcome ministers and served as the Welcome Ministry leader until the COVID shutdown. He served as an usher at outdoor Masses during the pandemic. Kirk also served as a lead volunteer in high school faith formation and currently serves as one of the Proclaimers for Mass and the Bible Study leader for a Catholic Men’s life group.
He and his wife Melody have been happily married for more than 35 years and still date every Saturday night. He shares that he loves being with her. Together they raised two beautiful and godly daughters. When he was younger, Kirk collected and worked on model toy trains, a hobby he hopes to get back into.
