Originally from Brooklyn and Queens, NY, but becoming a Raleigh resident in August 2022, Patty made it her first mission to find her faith family. It did not take long to decide that Saint Raphael the Archangel was the parish for her and her husband, Mike. This is where they felt most welcomed and at home in their search. Patty as a Cantor, choir member and parish council member and Mike as a Eucharistic Minister.
While working at St. John’s University School of Law in NY, she was involved in the Vincentian Mission Program which did good work with soup kitchens, food pantries, nursing home visits, midnight runs and other types of service work that she loved to be involved in. Also, while working there, she was able to educate her children. Patty was even able to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts with a concentration in Media Management and graduating during the pandemic. After getting the degree and working many years in fundraising at St. John’s, Patty decided that she needed a change so with that decision came a development position at Duke Health that brought Mike and Patty to the area to begin the task of getting re-established here in Raleigh.
With three grown and beautiful daughters who still reside in New York along with one granddaughter and one grandson to round out the family until more littles come with God’s blessing, many visits sustain her.
Although it has been many years since Patty has been involved in community theater, she would love to get back to that as well. That has always provided her with stability, accomplishment through productions and a creative outlet like no other.
She is currently working per diem at UNCHealth Rex Wellness Center and volunteering on a political campaign as well as auditioning for community theater which is keeping her pretty busy. She is committed to serving her second year on the Pastoral Council as we strive to bring the light of Christ to others for the Greater Glory of God by being welcoming and inclusive Catholic disciples seeking to show the way to God, walk with the excluded, journey with youth, and care for all of Creation, in the Jesuit tradition.
